Bricolage – Le manga / Arts and Crafts – Manga

Cette semaine, nos petits artistes ont dessiné des personnages en style manga. Le manga est une bande dessinée japonaise. Elle a une apparence particulière.

Pour lire les mangas ou d’autres livres sur le dessin, venez à Polaris et empruntez ces livres.

La semaine prochaine, vendredi le 23 janvier à 4h30, nous allons fabriquer des aimants collages.

 

This week, our budding artists drew manga characters. Mangas are Japonese comic books. They have a special style.

If you would like to read books about drawing, come to Polaris and borrow these books.

Next week, on Friday, January 23 at 4:30, we will by making collage magnets.

 

Bricolage/Arts and Crafts – Des livres de souvenirs/Memory Books

Cette semaine, nos petits bricoleurs ont crée des livres de souvenirs. Comme les mois se passent, ils peuvent remplir les pages avec des petits messages, des dessins ou des petits objets (billets, lettres, cartes, etc.) pour se souvenir de l’année 2015.

Polaris vous offre plusieurs histoires dans lesquelles les souvenirs figurent.

La semaine prochaine, vendredi le 16 janvier à 4h30, nous allons explorer le monde du manga, les bandes dessinées japonaises.

This week, our young crafters created memory books. As the months go by, they can fill the pages with notes, drawings or small objects (tickets, letters, cards, etc.) to help them remember the special moments of 2015.

Polaris has lots of books about memories and remembering.

Next week, on Friday, January 16 at 4:30, we will be exploring the world of manga, japanese animation.

 

EFL: Last Meeting of the Year

Today in our last Polaris EFL seesion for the year, we read the online ebook: The Frog Prince, hosted on the Oxford Owl site. This book is at level 6 and it was a little bit of a challenge. However, it is a fun book. It has an old classic tale with a few modern twists.

We also read two books called the Snowman. One is at level 1 and is super easy. The other one at level 3 is a bit harder, but really cute. We all laughed at the end.

There are 250 free ebooks for children in English on the Oxford Owl site. Some of them are at level 15, 16, and 17  and are way too hard for our group, but there are many, many easy ones.

If you are looking for some easy English reading while the library is closed for the holidays, I encourage you to check out the site. These online ebooks have audio, and many of the easier ones have activities to do after you finish reading the book.

Older children with a more advanced English ability might enjoy reading some of the more advanced books like Treasure Island or 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. There are books at many different levels from super easy all the way to these classics.

Bricolage / Arts and Crafts – Flocons de neige / Snowflakes

Cette semaine, nos bricoleurs ont crée des flocons de neige qui ne fondent jamais. Nous avons utilisé des cure-pipes et des pailles pour faire cette activité.

Polaris vous offre plusieurs livres dans lesquels les flocons de neige figurent.

La bibliothèque sera fermée jeudi le 18 décembre ainsi que pour deux semaines du 20 décembre 2014 au 4 janvier 2015. La prochaine session de bricolage aura lieu vendredi le 9 janvier à 4h00. Nous allons faire des livres de souvenirs.

This week, our crafters created never-melt snowflakes. We used pipe cleaners and straws for this activity.

Polaris has many books featuring snowflakes.

The library will be closed on Thursday, December 18 as well as the two-week period from December 20, 2014 to January 4, 2015. The next Arts and Crafts session will be on Friday, January 9 at 4:00. We will be making memory books.

Heure de conte les mercredis

Mercredi prochain le 2 décembre, pour l’heure de conte, nous allons raconter des histoires ayant pour thème Noel. Les amis qui viennent à l’heure de conte mercredi le 2 décembre auront droit à une petite surprise. Notre heure de conte se tient tous les mercredis de 17h à 17h45. J’ai hâte de vous voir les amis!
